Verle Dean Truitt, 84, of Ohio County, IN, passed away at 1:12 PM, Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 at The Waters of Dillsboro/Ross Manor in Dillsboro, IN. Verle was born in Addyston, OH on October 19, 1933, a son of the late Bessie (Petty) and Leslie Truitt. His family later moved to Switzerland County where he was a Graduate of Vevay High School, Class of 1951. Verle retired from Fernald in Ohio and also worked at Thatcher Glass in Greendale for several years. After retirement Verle kept busy by working at Tandy's IGA and the BP in Aurora. Verle was a faithful Christian and a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ. Verle was a 50 year member and Past Master of the Hartford Masonic Lodge and also a 50 year member and Past Patron of the Rising Sun Eastern Star. Verle married Genevieve (Potter) Truitt on December 24, 1951. Verle and Genevieve were married over 65 years until her passing on August 10, 2017. Verle enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle. gardening and growing flowers. Verle loved to watch the hummingbirds that came to visit the feeders he kept out for them. Verle was a devoted husband and a loving father, grandpa , great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Verle is survived by two daughters, Verlene Sharp and husband Vernon, of Rising Sun, IN and Bonnie Duckworth and husband Roy, of Florence, IN; by a a son, Roger Truitt, of Rising Sun, IN; by 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; by a sister, Charmaine "Sherry" Johnson, of East Enterprise, IN; by a brother, Leslie "Bummy" Truitt and wife Mel, of Carrollton, KY; and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Verle was preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, Genevieve, by a daughter, Lois Marie Truitt on November 13, 1955, by a brother, Jim Truitt, by sister and brother-in-law, Doris & Sonny Hugentobler and by a brother-in-law, Gerald Johnson.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Monday, May 7th at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be Sunday 4-8 PM at Markland Funeral Home with Masonic and Eastern Star services beginning at 7 PM. Burial will be at Rising Sun New Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children-Cincinnati, The Waters of Dillsboro/Ross Manor Activity Fund or the Indiana Masonic Home. Cards are available at the funeral home.
